Benefitting the optical assets, this lens sports a stepping AF motor for quick, quiet, and smooth focusing performance that suits both still photography as well as video applications. Distinguished by its bright f/1.4 maximum aperture, this incredible lens is adept at working in a low-light environment and affords increased control over the depth of field for selective focus control. The optical design makes use of several low dispersion and aspherical elements, which control colour fringing and various aberrations in order to provide high sharpness and clarity throughout the aperture range. Individual elements offer a Super Multi-Layer Coating to suppress flare and ghosting for greater contrast and colour fidelity when working in a strong lighting environment. The rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality. For ensured accuracy and durability, the bayonet mount is constructed from brass. Also, rubber sealing is incorporated in the mount design to render it dust- and splash-resistant. Wide-angle prime is designed for APS-C-format Canon EF-M-mount mirrorless cameras and delivers a 25.6mm equivalent focal length.

Great Features and Performance

It features a bright f/1.4 maximum aperture that excels in low-light conditions and also affords increased control over the depth of field for achieving selective focus effects. The two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements and three F Low Dispersion (FLD) elements reduce colour fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to achieve greater clarity and colour accuracy. Two aspherical elements are used to limit distortion and spherical aberrations and contribute to greater overall sharpness and accurate rendering. A stepping AF motor benefits both photographers and videographers with its fast, precise, and near-silent performance.

Our expert's opinion

Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens - Canon M-Mount is a great choice when it comes to optical performance and convenience.
