The extensive telephoto zoom range is complemented by optical image stabilization, which minimizes the appearance of camera shake to render sharper imagery at longer focal lengths. Additionally, this lens also features a precision stepping AF motor that delivers smooth, near-silent focus performance to benefit both still and movie recording applications.

Enhanced image quality

The optical design of the lens includes one extra-low dispersion element and one aspherical elements to reduce aberrations and enhance sharpness, clarity and colour accuracy. It also has a Super EBC coating applied to the individual elements to reduce flare and ghosting when used in strong light conditions. AF motor also provides fast and quiet focusing performance, while its rounded seven-blade diaphragm assists in capturing nice bokeh.

Our expert's opinion

If you’re looking for a powerful telephoto zoom lens to take on your next travels, this could be perfect for you. Be aware that it is slow, with an aperture of f/4.5-6.7, but with the exception of action photography in poor light conditions, this will not necessarily be an issue. Its light weight and wide zoom range will be an asset for those on the move, wanting to capture quality images without bringing a whole camera kit. All in all, great value for what it offers.
