Design and controls

The Nikon Z f inherits the iconic Nikon FM2 design. The body is made from magnesium alloy and has Durable Weather Sealing. A dedicated monochrome selector accentuates black and white photography, and film grain has six intensity levels and three size options.

Viewfinder and monitor

The viewfinder is a 0.5-inch (1.27 cm) OLED electronic viewfinder with approx. 3690k-dot (Quad VGA) resolution. The 3.2-inch vari-angle TFT touch-sensitive LCD has a 170 degree viewing angle.

Autofocus and stabilisation

Autofocus is built from Deep Learning technology. The body has 5-axis image sensor shift stabilisation, rated at up to 8 stops, and lens shift is also available with VR lenses.

Shutter, burst and video

The shutter is an electronically controlled focal-plane mechanical shutter, with an electronic front-curtain shutter and an electronic shutter also available. Burst rates are 14 fps mechanical and 30 fps electronic (C30), as measured by Nikon in in-house tests. The camera records continuous clips of up to 125 minutes directly to the memory card, and 1920 x 1080 at 120p is available for slow motion.

Storage, power and connectivity

The camera has one SD and one microSD card slot, and either card can be used for overflow or backup storage. It takes one EN-EL15c rechargeable Li-ion battery, and EH-8P AC adapters charge EN-EL15c and EN-EL15b batteries only. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 are built in.

Size and weight

The body weighs about 630 g on its own, and about 710 g with battery and memory card but without the body cap and accessory shoe cover.
