OM System OM-3 Astro Silver Compact Camera

Technical Details: OM SYSTEM OM-3 Astro Mirrorless Camera Body Only - Silver The OM-3 Astro, a Micro Four Thirds interchangeable lens system camera, is constructed around a 4/3 stacked BSI Live MOS sensor with dimensions of 17.4 x 13.0 mm. It boasts an effective resolution of approximately 20.4 megapixels, with a total pixel count nearing 22.9 million, and utilises a 4:3 aspect ratio. The sensor is fronted by a re-engineered IR-cut filter, which allows for increased Hα transmission, thus transforming the OM-3 Astro into a dedicated astrophotography camera.

This enables it to depict red emission nebulae with enhanced spectral fidelity and colour precision. The inclusion of Supersonic Wave Filter technology helps to reduce sensor dust, while compatibility with SD, SDHC and SDXC cards, including UHS-I and UHS-II, provides flexible and swift storage solutions. Key Features: Astrophotography-Focused Shooting Modes 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilisation High-speed imager AF system Supports JPEG, 12-bit lossless compressed RAW, and JPEG plus RAW recording Wi-Fi connectivity Astrophotography-Focused Shooting Modes Designed specifically for night sky imaging, the mode dial includes C1, C2 and C3 Custom Modes that are preconfigured for different astrophotography scenarios.

These modes provide quick access to optimised image-quality settings that maintain natural-looking results. Handheld High Res Shot is available in Custom Mode C1, compositing 12 frames into a single high-definition, low-noise image with one shutter press. The camera also integrates Colour Profile Control, allowing astrophotography and star-scape images to be rendered with greater visual impact, whether capturing nebulae, balanced night-sky landscapes, or natural-colour star scenes in a single handheld shot.

Stabilisation, Autofocus and Viewing Built-in 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilisation provides up to 6.5 steps of compensation at the centre and 5.5 steps at the corners, with Sync IS extending this to 7.5 steps when used with compatible stabilised lenses. The high-speed imager AF system combines phase detection and contrast detection, offering 1,053 cross-type AF points and sensitivity from as low as -5.5 EV. An eye-level OLED electronic viewfinder with approximately 2.36 million dots delivers 100 percent coverage, while the 3.0-inch vari-angle touchscreen monitor with 1.62 million dots supports flexible shooting angles and intuitive control.

File Formats, Connectivity and Handling The OM-3 Astro supports JPEG, 12-bit lossless compressed RAW, and JPEG plus RAW recording, with maximum image sizes of 5184 x 3888. Metadata is recorded using DCF 2.0 and Exif 3.0 standards. Handling is enhanced through extensive customisation options, including programmable stabilisation settings for multiple lenses, selectable grid displays, a 2-axis level gauge, and advanced touch controls for focusing and playback.

Wi-Fi connectivity, a bundled EP-15 eyecup, and compatibility with an optional Body Mount Filter accessory further extend the camera's versatility for demanding astrophotography use.
