More of its optical design, the four aspherical elements, including the two AA (Advanced Aspherical) elements, help to reduce distortion and spherical aberrations in order to accurately render scenes with a high degree of sharpness. For improved clarity and colour accuracy, the three extra-low dispersion elements reduce colour fringing and chromatic aberrations. It is compact, lightweight, and ideal for a wide range of subjects.

Our expert's opinion

Sony’s first 16-55 mm (24-82.5 mm full-frame equiv.) APS-C zoom with a constant F2.8 aperture is remarkably compact while offering performance befitting the G Lens series. A new optical design delivers excellent corner-to-corner resolution, and beautiful bokeh is available when needed.
