Our expert's opinion

An 85mm f/1.4 is a dream for portraiture, providing a flattering perspective at the 85mm focal length and also pleasant bokeh thanks to its wide aperture and resulting shallow depth of field. It is also excellent in low light. Part of the G Master series of lenses, this is reflected in the high image quality it produces, particularly with regard to detail and texture. Put simply, this is Sony’s best portraiture lens.
