The Vaonis Atlas Twin Modular Smart Telescope with Two 80mm Imaging Modules pairs two 80mm imaging modules with one Atlas mount. Each module is an apochromatic quadruplet with a 360mm focal length and f/4.5, and has a backlit Sony IMX585 colour sensor with 8.3MP resolution.

Twin Configuration
With both modules on the same target, the pair collects twice the light at any moment. The twin configuration has a light-gathering equivalent of f/3.2. Signal-to-noise ratio improves by the square root of two, about 41%, and Vaonis states this gives the same result in half the time. Stacking across the two modules is automatic from launch.
Modular Mount and Sky Dock
The alt-azimuth mount supports equatorial mode from launch. Sky Dock is a proprietary high-speed connection of up to 3 Gbit/s per module. Modules can be connected or removed without tools in under five seconds, which Vaonis calls hot connect. The mount weighs 3.5kg, each imaging module 3kg, and the twin configuration measures 41 x 10 x 31cm.
Field Use
A built-in humidity and temperature sensor drives the dew heater, and an electronic bubble level with an 18-LED ring helps with levelling. The Sky Guard all-sky camera uses a Sony IMX676 sensor with 12MP and 185° fisheye optics. Rated IP64, the system operates from -20°C to +40°C and provides 6 hours of battery life.
Connectivity, Storage and Filters
Wi-Fi 6, NFC and Bluetooth are supported, and Vaonis lists more than 10 simultaneous users. Output formats are 8-bit JPEG, 16-bit FITS and 16-bit TIFF, with microSD expansion. The filter drawer takes standard 1.25-inch filters and recognises Vaonis filters automatically, which are available late 2026 along with a full-aperture solar filter. The sealed USB-C 3.1 port offers 60W fast charging and data transfer.
