Description
The Hoya 55mm Variable Density II Filter is a 55mm ND filter from Hoya.
Density and rotation
The density range is ND3-ND400 (1.5 to 9 stops). The frame is rotatable, and the outer ring controls the density. A special knob on the outer ring gives precise rotation.
Good to know
The manufacturer warns of vignetting with APS-C wide-angle lenses at focal lengths less than 13mm, and with full-frame wide-angle lenses less than 24mm. The manufacturer says a cross-like dark pattern will appear across the image near or at maximum density and cannot be eliminated. The filter requires a lens cap one size bigger than the filter itself.
